The Le Plastrier’s are a salt of the earth family who would give the shirt off their back for someone who needed it more . Heartbreakingly father Julian (or Lappa) received his initial bowel cancer diagnosis in November 2020. From the initial shock to the peaks of hope with successful treatments, and the valleys of setbacks, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster for Julian, Katrina, and their two young boys, Oscar (aged 8) and Henry (aged 3).
Despite Julian and Katrina’s unwavering resolve, cancer has relentlessly presented itself as an insurmountable adversary. After enduring surgeries, treatments, and countless medical interventions, Lappa received the heart-wrenching news in December 2023 that his condition was now non-curative, with a life expectancy of 12-18 months.
Since then, Lappa has displayed remarkable courage, confronting each day with fortitude despite battling excruciating pain and discomfort. He continues to undergo chemotherapy and struggles through part-time work to support his cherished family. Throughout it all, Katrina has been an unwavering source of strength, prioritising their well-being amidst the daunting daily challenges they face.
As a result, one of Lappa's great mates Craig Baker is taking action. In September 2024 he will be riding from Golden Bay in Mandurah to Lappa's family home in Karratha, aiming to alleviate some of the burdens and provide moments of respite for Lappa and his family, allowing them to cherish every precious moment together.
Hurt to Help have been honoured to donate to Lappa and are extremely grateful to be involved in Craig's ride as this is something we as a charity are very passionate about. We would love your support in raising funds for Lappa as they build their new family home and make precious memories as a family whilst Lappa is still able to.
Craig is upholding the Hurt to Help ethos and we want to do everything we can to support him and the Le Plastrier's so please give what you can and spread the word!
